Fox Is The BEST Entertainment.

So, here I sit on a Sunday evening, watching Columbus’s Fox affiliate attempt to forecast an incoming storm. Now, these guys are as accurate as a blind sniper with a bent rifle barrel, so they have that goin’ for them, which is nice. Then, they try to go live to their latest invention, the mobile weather tracker.

Think about it. We are supposed to get a crapload of snow (the official unit of measure this winter), along with winds of 25mph plus. So what do our brilliant Fox and Friends send out? A rear-wheel drive, slab-sided, tipsy van. Out onto roads that they are expecting to receive Advisory Level 2 (“unless it’s a true emergency, get your sorry butt off the dang road” per the county sheriff). Turning on filming lights INSIDE the van to film the reporter in the shotgun seat, while some poor slob tries to drive a full-size van. Yeah…….

I’m gonna try to get back into things this week (yeah, yeah, I know, same ol’ story), so I hope to see y’all real soon – weather permitting, of course! πŸ˜€

  1. Fox News…the greatest oxymoron to ever be uttered! Try not to get buried!

  2. El Guapo says:

I guess they never heard the adage that the new team shouldn’t be the story…

  3. aFrankAngle says:

We missed the latest … well, missed meaning we didn’t get the brunt or what was expected. Meanwhile, given warmer weather on the way, hopefully you can let nature melt the church parking lot.

  4. Elyse says:

Good to see you John, but if your brain is in need of heeling, what the hell are you doing watching Fox?

    • Well, we try to catch the news at 10 (and these are the only guys, other than WGN in Chicago [Chicago’s 9pm news shows at 10 here], to run news at 10pm), so that we can catch Stewart/Colbert at 11pm. And these guys only use Fox for their world news stories, which I tend to run with the volume muted, so they aren’t TOO bad. Mostly. πŸ˜€

Howdy. Keep shoveling, you;ll make it.

Wow, you have had a really tough winter! I thought our cold weather was over..then spring break came – it dropped down into the 30’s and we got day after day of rain and even some snow in some parts! You cannot predict the weather, Mother Nature knows what she’s doing…keep warm!

    • We haven’t had it too bad, just a lot of small dumps of snow. The pain has been the first bits to fall have melted, then refroze as glare ice, then added snow on top of it, so cleanup is a first class pain. We’re actually slightly under average (which beats the drought we had last winter), but we’ll hopefully pick up enough additional stuff (as rain, God, PLEASE make it as rain!) to ease the water situation. We’ve actually been somewhat warm, though again, we were in the upper 70s last March! Weird stuff indeed.

Whoa, ease up on Foz. it is all Punxsutawney Phil’s fault. Besides Home Depot wll be having a sale on snow shovels in 3 months.

    • Oh, it ain’t just the Fox folk around here. There’s another station (NBC afffiliate, I think) that’s also trying out a mobile “news tracker”, and a third station whose helicopter has had a couple run-ins with the county Sheriff air support! Definitely not the sharp end of the stick around here! πŸ˜‰

Hope by now you’ve shovelled yourself outta that crap full ‘o snow! It’s just not the same without Brain Rants, is it? I’ve been feeling listless about posting too. Mind you, hubby brought home a cold which turned into pneumonia for me, so I’ve been a little under the weather too, but I still miss Rants.

    • Yeah, without Rants, checking Email just doesn’t seem quite as exciting. Still definitely fun, though! Like I said above, the snow ain’t the problem now, it’s the Inbox and all the crap I gotta wade through. But ya can’t keep a good nutjob down, so look out, I’m comin’ back, baby! πŸ˜€ (Hope you’re feeling better, too. It’s a whole lot less fun without you, too!)

  9. Archon's Den says:

I was gonna leave a, “Knock, knock! Come out, come out, wherever you are.” comment, but felt you needed the recoveration. Inspired by you, I took a couple of days off….and you’re back. I forecast increased jocularity – or increased MASH reruns – or both.

    • Now now, this jocularity is most unseemly, Hawkeye … I mean, Archon! πŸ˜€ Yeah, I’m trying to claw my way back into the swing of things. Catch ya soon – I hope!
