A Paratrooper, A Pilot, and A Plane

No, this isn’t the start of a bad joke. It IS the truly amazing story of how a pilot of a C-47 transport plane which dropped paratroopers on the morning of June 6, 1944; a paratrooper who jumped from that plane; and the C-47 itself, “Whiskey 7″ were re-united on this 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings. From the wonderful folks at NBC, who have been saluting the veterans of that famous day all this week:

I know I mentioned this in my previous post, but it is just too good a story to let slide with a mere mention. The video is only a few minutes long, but it tells a story spanning 70 years in the life of 3 great Americans. Enjoy!

Leave it to Brokow to put together this story.

    • I’d like to think somebody else would’ve taken up the story if he hadn’t. but he has certainly brought the WW2 vets’ stories to the masses. Now we need to find somebody to do it for Korea and Vietnam, before we lost all those guys to old age, too!
